tuesday dinnered at dockies n randomly spotted srhwong with her real parents.

had my second patient on wednesday. was pretty awesome, way better than my first :)

7/10 finally.

she mentioned her LE got watery every 2-3wks, so figured must be something blocking drainage of tears. thussss the supervisor said we had to do lacrimal lavage to flush the obstruction out (which was most likely eyeliner crap). well.. had to choose between lacrimal lavage or Jone's test but he preferred lavage so yeah. it was gross. but pretty cool.

thursday . chem bldg fire alarm so got evacuated during diseases lecture.. went home coz felt sick :(

and then and then went docklands with jeena & jono to get free stuff from the loreal powder room :D

had contact lens insertion & removal prac todayyy. was pretty fun, ALL the tissue boxes and soap were completely obliterated and everyone was wandering around bawling out of one eye with a runny nose. RGPs are the worst to wear tho! mong couldnt take it out of my eye n it hurttt :( but then after the third insertion i think corneal nerves became more desensitised to it. soft CLs are ok, still a little uncomfortable though.

just tried putting a CL into my sis' eye. her response was, i never want to wear CLs everr.. bahaha..

and now i shall attempt my dad :D

world glaucoma week ends today.

sigh. just realised i left the lens cover of my BIO in the pre-clin room D:

GAHHH. how now? 3 grand worth of head gear is gonna get scratched. woe. T.T

first px done!

been feeling really lethargic lately, sore muscles, lack of concentration, moodiness.. possibly due to lack of sleep or the fact that there is absolutely no time to get anything done.

4th yr is ridiculously overwhelming at the moment.. juggling prep for clinicals and dispensing, and revising lectures and practicals with portfolio presentations and assessments every step of the way.

why why why.

i do not wish to repeat this year.

my first px was fairly alright, compared to some of the patients the others got.

she was a 30yo postgrad student, +5.00DS with 5exop and hearing problems who initially wanted a contact lens fitting.. although i couldnt do that for her coz haven't learnt how.

my supervisor was this stone-faced guy- Richard Voljay, who is gonna lecture us later in the semester apparently. he was pretty nice in a very serious no-nonsense kind of way, and kept saying that in 30yrs time when im teaching at the clinic, i'll look back and laugh. at the end of the consult my px asked when i would be working again so she could make her follow up appt at the same time- that pretty much made my day :)

next week wednesday equals px number two at the ACO... geriatricssss!...

anyway, tomorrow marks my first ever day with no uni classes. NONE :D :D

so excited.

but it'll prolly be all catchup study, and its only because im not rostered to see a px.

i am CHCA.

had clinical orientation today, so basically we were shown around UniMelb Eyecare (UME) clinic and the aus college of optometry (ACO- yes, has been upgraded from vco).

im rostered for more patients in UME, so it was fairly depressing to meet the dragonlady who runs it... she's so mean! she also wants us to drown ourselves in perfume.

the ACO clinicians were really nice though and they explained the patient base which would mostly consist of pensioners (whereas UME is more for the younger patients).

cant be bothered writing comprehensively or in full sentences now.

not as cool as WOSH or GOHU, sadly.

quick update.

coz i need sleep.

silly eye bags..

- 4th yr is crazy busy.

- i am rostered to see my first ever REALLL patient aka one on one consult next wednesday at UniMelb Eyecare clinic @ 10.30am.

- if we are late to a consult, we get 0 marks. if we are late a second time, we get suspended for four weeks (and thus zilch marks for any consults).

- clinical skills are so rusty. we had our only practice today before seeing px.. n i only just managed to scrap through. sigh.. dont wanna just scrap through.. i wanna be PROOOO. :P and thus.. I WANT A PHOROPTER PLS.

- today was fairly crappy coz highbloodpressure during bus to uni (caught bus at 7.30, arrived at uni at 9.. annoying cyclists riding in front of the bus ALL THE WAY DOWN JOHNSTON ST. SIF. and during peak hour. n before that it was jammed all the way from the start of high st in kew! grrr.. almost almost late but thankfully not); my retinoscope bulb blew.. and thus i couldnt finish my practice consult.. and thus i may epic fail next week coz no other practice times); mimco keyring broke.. to name just a few.. rawrawr..

i had more to say but shall add to this later coz was supposed to slp at 11. fail.

dislikes so many 8.30//9am starts in the week.

so lethargic...
