Hii I’m Cat, and I first met Linda in grade 6 interschool sports in a game of bat tennis. I was then lucky enough to end up in the same class as Linda at Balwyn High. We as the laptop nerds of yr 7 and 8, used to play tetris and spider solitare and attempt to hack into each others laptops during class. I also remember those English lessons with Farmer Dempster, and the creepy Mr Mac – for those who don’t know him, he used to follow us carrying his pink folders and wearing his super short shortshorts to most of our subject classes as a substitute teacher. Anyway enough of old men. We only really got to know each other during PE lessons as Linda was the only other asian chick in our class who didn’t mind playing sport. As most of you will know, Linda’s favourite sport to play or watch is - most other sports she watches for the hot guys (ahem, Jimmy Bartel). Anyway, this love of tennis extends to the point where she will call us out to play tennis with her despite us not knowing how to play properly.

I’m Anita, and I have been friends with Linda since Grade 5, which is more than half my life! But if you want to be precise, it would be considerably less after you deduct the primary school years where she could only be considered my four-square buddy, and all the times she was pissed off and not talking to me. So it was not until high school during which I became closer friends with Linda. We hung in the same circle and discovered our common obsession in Gunbound (go Boomers!), straight hair, Korean dramas, and boys (which in Linda’s case were strictly non-asian and in my case, gay?). And I still remember thinking to myself out of the blue “Linda’s so nice”. But as you know, high school was also the age and time for the drama/bitch fest. Just an example, I was reading through some letter anonymous wrote to me in high school and it basically said “not sure if we can be friends since Linda and I are in a campaign against you”.

C: So just a couple of traits,

- Linda is quite klutzy: shes one of those people who will trip over absolutely nothing

- She often lacks a sense of direction: for example everytime we leave a store, she’ll try to go back the way we came- then giggles to herself and pretends it didn’t happen Despite these minor shortcomings, Linda is someone you can easily get along with and who you can spend hours on the phone talking to. She has a great sense of humour and is in all a trustworthy and generally reliable friend.

A: We have been through our fair share of highs and lows, and we are extremely thankful that we have remained close friends despite this. We are glad to be here for you whether it is to end up sharing a lazy afternoon together due to our lack of decisiveness, listening to your various boy dramas, or playing an un-thrilling game of tennis.
